The Royal Victoria Dock community doesn't need yet another hotel and certainly not another floating one taking up vital leisure space on our dock. There are already FIVE full service hotels along Western Gateway (two of them floating) and another SIX between ExCeL and the Connaught Bridge.

The existing Good Hotel (GH1) escaped over £1.6million of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) in 2024 because it claimed to be a vessel and not a building. No doubt the same trick will be used again, this time to deprive the London Borough of Newham of an even larger amount of money that should go to the local community.

The new hotel (GH2) is planned to be at least one floor higher and significantly larger than GH1, will be located immediately behind it and will consequently block the view of the Dock, the Thames and Canary Wharf for many more existing apartment owners.

It brings no benefits of any kind to existing residents, financial or otherwise, and will simply create additional crowds, noise, litter and nuisance in what is a residential community.

The design is unattractive and will have an unfavourable impact on the environment for both residents and wildlife.

SAY NO TO THIS SOCIALLY USELESS PROJECT.
