This is a great festival! It is events like this that keep the city vibrant and exciting. The city needs more community events like this, not fewer. The benefits to the thousands of festival goers clearly outweighs the perceived inconvenience of a handful of complainants.

If we are truly a diverse city then why is it that festivals like this are constantly moved without actual proof (reports, documents etc.) of there being a need to do so?
To shorten a festivals limitations as well as location is discriminatory; as The Greek Festival on the Danforth has not changed (as an example).
Do you not want revenue coming in from both locals and tourists to this festival?

We do not need another African-Caribbean event marred with negative energy. The African Caribbean community, is tired of its events, venues being restricted or eliminated.

Afrofest is a jewel to this the GTA community. Reducing it to one day based on the weak reasons given is discriminatory and racist. Toronto is supposed to be a multicultural city but this action contradicts their claim.
We need to stand up for what belongs to us, we need to stand up to what is right!!

Let AfroFest continue as a two day festival! It's a great festival that brings a lot of people to the city. Why would you want to cut that out?

Afrofest should remain a two-day festival. What happens if it is just a one-day festival and over 100,000 people attend, then what?

I have attended Afrofest as a guest and a vendor. Making it a one-day festival just would not work at all. It would be a great lost for the vendors and even greater lost for the guests and participants. It is the only event in the city that is geared to the celebration of African and Diasporic African cultures. From my understanding it has grown large over the years and has now become the largest African Music festival in North America. This will also be a great lost in revenues for the City of Toronto.
I have been to other events in Toronto (Beaches Jazz, TD Jazz, Irie Fest, and Taste of the Danforth) as a guest and vendor. They are all loud and there is always an issue with time especially as a vendor when it comes to breaking down our stalls.
I am wondering if this really is something to do with noise or if this is something more on oppression and racism? Even reading the online articles, the way Afrofest is portrayed, it sounds like a person in jail. "If the festival has good behavior, then it can go back to a two-day event..."
I am sure the issue with timing and noise can be worked out. I would like to see Afrofest continue to be a two-day event.

Toronto has an obligation to represent all members of its diverse population. Dismantling this celebration of African roots and heritage would neglect the large number of people who identify as Afro Canadian or those of different descent who want to experience African culture, first hand.

I live a stones throw from woodbine park, love the community diversity events and sometimes I wish it were louder so that I don't have to leave my backyard. However I enjoy the full experience and bringing the entire family!!

We need to continue having Afrofest be a two day event because it brings unity and the ability to have our cultural all participate in this events. I look forward to the food, music ,crafts and that the Afrofest brings to the Black community. It's something that I look forward each year it also gives individuals the ability to share in the different cultures and learn about.

I love Afrofest it's the event I look forward to each summer the art music food books and culture it awesome to expose the next generation to that.
