I could go on for days explaining the reasons why this petition is necessary, but instead I choose to simply say... This is a sad but very honest glimpse of the systemic discrimination of people of colour. We will no longer go quietly. Shame on you.

I am sure. other festivals and events have gone over their limits on a number of occasions yet they are still allowed to run and are still being funded. their failures to abide by the guidelines have been overlooked continuosly, alloeing their community impacts to be further seen. if anything the afro community needs this more. it is a community that needs to be impacted for the better. and one day isnt enough. 2 days barely scratch the surface. and it must be understood that this event takes place during a time where many youth are looking for things to do, events to attend, and things to keep them busy and out of trouble. by minimizing this event the youth are challenged to find things to do. and we know idleness is not a barer or good things usually.
so please do consider your decision

It's unfortunate that a great festival that brings joy and diversity to our city is being slowly diminished. Afro fest is important to 100's of thousands of individuals. Latin fest and cosa italia are extremely inconvient, overcrowded and very loud but there is no mention of reducing it. Those festvals run for 3 days. To reduce Afro fest to one day is unfair and limits the exposure that this event requires. It is a shame and ridiculous that this is being proposed.

Please don't shorten it. 2 days is short enough as it is. It's Afrofest for God's sake. Celebrating a continent not a country
