On Monday August 13, 2018 a use variance was requested for development of the property for sale located next o Schindler's Garage on Paoli Pike. A proposal has been submitted by Curt Rafferty of Bowling Green, Kentucky to develop a Dollar General.
As you may recall Curt Rafferty submitted a proposal to develop a Dollar General on land located next to the Floyd County Post Office on Paoli Pike on November 20, 2017. After local residents expressed opposition to this plan he withdrew his application.

First Dollar General then what’s next, Hardee’s? More gas stations/quick shops? Our winding hilly road has enough traffic already. Keep Paoli Pike LOCAL AND SCENIC!!
The traffic on this road is terrible already, plenty of room at highlander point or Rite Aid store that is vacant. Other commercial propriety in area with better parking but actually don’t need another dollar store. Already have several within 10 min of each other. So NO to a Dollar Store !!
This site is better suited to professional offices or service businesses, not higher traffic retail. The Highlander Point area would be a more suitable location.
No. For once would like outsiders to leave our community alone. Traffic is bad enough. Put it at Highlander or down the Hill by the old tree top or better yet develop your own community .
Since they are bent on putting a DG in FK, why don’t they look at the vacant Rite Aid at Highlander Pointe? Plenty of vacant land there as well, as opposed to sticking it right in front of Woods and Chamborg(sp). I’m surprised not every residents name in those two developments aren’t listed here. Just saying.
I would usually let the market destroy a terrible business venture like this but I fear in that process the property value will be lowered. At best this will be a bet loss for the majority of local habitats

I believe this brings property values down in surrounding areas. I was just in Nashville TN and was pointed out one of the owners (The Turners) homes. There was not a Dollar General anywhere near. I don’t want it in my back yard either.
