Petition Summary: In its current state the forested land base in British Columbia consists of 1033 protected provincial parks. There are large portions of the land base set aside for social and cultural interests and environmental reasons. The forests of BC are a renewable resource and we ask that the remaining harvestable land base be protected as , THE WORKING FOREST, to be defined and dedicated to the purpose of harvesting and economic activities for the sustainable future of our Families, our Communities and the Province.
To the Honorable John Horgan Premier of British Columbia; we the undersigned are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to bring into legislation, THE WORKING FOREST, defined and dedicated to the purpose of harvesting and economic activities.

My grandpa worked the bush his whole life and we need to keep these jobs alive for the younger generation. Enough with the red tape.

Look up: the EBap program from the late 70 early 80's. Where BC men/women were hired to go out and space trees and clean up forested areas that the trees grew strong and it mitigated the fire risks. Our forests should look like show parks where trees are valued and protected and harvested by better cleaner practises. A NEW EBap forest workers program would also help to teach a new generation about using chainsaws and brush cutters and learn skills that will be valuable to this resource for the future! John Horgan you must take some kind of direction. The out of work forestry workers are the backbone of this province and to turn you back on them now and not instate some kind helpful legislation. You have the opportunity to create thousands of jobs cleaning up the forests while you figure out how they should be managed and harvested. Start by creating a program that hires thousands of forest labour stewards to clean up the mess that's out there and then get going on a plan to put logging trucks and mill workers back on the job!
