Scavo gave so many of my friends who couldn't finish traditional high school an environment where they could get through the coursework! Alternative high schools are IMPORTANT!

My good friend Carmon Rasmussen works here and goes above and beyond for the kids here. She cannot say enough wonderful things about the students here and how they've impacted her as much as I know she's impacted them! Keep this school open!! These kids depend on it!!

Without Scavo I would likely be another high school dropout. This school and it’s staff granted me a second chance at an education and therefore a second chance at a life worth living. There simply is no replacement for the services such as the childcare, dental hygiene and help finding the next step after high school that Scavo provides. Eliminating this institution would be detrimental to vulnerable youth and the families of said youth, these are the people who need the most support and taking their resources away is unacceptable.

As a teacher at an alternative high school (also a community school), I understand the unique and special role a building like this plays in a district. DMPS students deserve to have this school as an option. It is a necessity for many, and without it, these students will slip through the cracks and succumb to the pressures they face without a safety net.
