I believe that Milwaukee High school of the Arts should remain an arts school . It’s the only place where “weird “ kids get to express themselves .. I Know that I would never be in the position I’m in without Arts . Arts showed me who I am. An it’s millions of kids who have a story but verbally can’t speak it .. so our talents speaks up . please don’t let his take the Art curriculum away .

These kids work hard on making the best paintings for our school and the community period. Visual Arts allows students to express themselves in there artwork. This is also a good cause on everyone as well as a community.

High school of the arts is a great school and safe haven for every single student and faculty member and replacing visual arts is an injustice for the students. Those students have aided the hallways and all the school with great art works. It's shame to know that the principle in place is not fitting enough to protect the students and faculty with the gift of the arts to learn about what they love and being forced to lead normal lives because they don't know enough about their craft.

I think it’s completely unfair, that Mr. Farris thinks he has the ability to tell our students what HE believes art is & what HE believes our school is missing when we’re already perfect.

Yes, the art departments are what makes the arts, ARTS. It’s the student and staff as-well, but how can younger generations arriving to this school express their inner workings and grow into something more than a mindless sheep. Keep the art programs, don’t let the children go on in their High School life without experiencing the opportunities provided within these programs.

As a parent of two students at MHSA, I was upset to not be included in decisions of this scale at our school. One of my children is a Visual Arts major and this was never discussed with the families, students, or parents.

We specifically chose to live in Milwaukee and have our children attend MHSA for the access to specialized arts education. There are other schools that focus on science and technology; allowing families to choose the educational path that is correct for them. While I would love for students interested in design work to be able to elect an engineering class, such as those offered through PLTW; it seems inappropriate to make it a required class. I am also worried that it seems a significant amount of funding is going into adding technology and a specialized classroom for this type of class when the bathrooms are in disrepair. It seems to me that having a clean, functional, safe bathroom space for students should be a top priority. It is also worrisome to me that all of these decisions seem to have been made without input from or informing of the student body.

the arts is the only reason i wanted to even wanted to come to MHSA. If the ‘arts’ part is taken away, then this school is going downhill for real.

He is truly a terrible principal. The things that happen under his watch is ridiculous. I as a student don't feel safe at that school let alone MPS in general if these are the people they hire to run a school.
