Keep Xavier Prep Open
Xavier University Prep School, the Catholic all-girls high school that has educated young African-Americans Uptown since 1915, will close at the end of this school year. Located on Magazine Street, the school was founded by St. Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, who also founded Xavier University. Xavier Prep officials also announced plans to hold a strategy session Saturday to explore options to keep the school open. It will be held at 10 a.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Charter School, located at 1617 Caffin Ave. We, the proud Preppers, are asking everyone to join us in our fight to keep this historic school open to educate more generations of young women. Pledge your support and make your voice heard by signing this petition. This is only the beginning of our fight. We are counting on everyone...Preppers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, husbands, wives, nieces, nephews, and friends to do whatever it takes to reverse this decision.
