Save Valley Rock Climbing Gym

On June 30, 2010, the LARPD Board will vote on budget cuts to include the cessation of LARPD operation of Valley Rock Climbing Gym, effective January 2011. Final adoption of the LARPD budget is scheduled for August 11, 2010.
Valley Rock Climbing Gym offers a unique athletic program accessible to all genders, ages, physical abilities and income levels as the only indoor rock climbing gym in the Tri-Valley and the only Parks and Recreation operated indoor rock climbing gym in the Bay area (and one of the few in California state).
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge the LARPD Board to vote in favor of continued LARPD operation of Valley Rock Climbing Gym and to increase Valley Rock Climbing Gym publicity in efforts to fully promote to the general public the programs offered and the competitive success of the Valley Rock Youth Climbing League.
We also respectfully request that every effort be made to inform the general public of operational challenges that Valley Rock Climbing Gym may encounter in the future before operational cessation is considered for vote. It is public consensus that the few (associated or not with Valley Rock Climbing Gym) that are aware of the current LARPD proposed budget cuts would have been had The Independent's May 27th article not been published.
