This coaster is an icon. It represents every fun memory I have had in my lifetime. I have been to other parks. I've ridden other rides. But by far nothing compares to thunder road. It is more than nostalgia. Its the face of carowinds this signature ride in its fleet of fun amusement. To decommission it would be a huge mistake.

Carowinds just isn't "Carowinds" without Thunder Road. It's 39 years old, the Fury 325 is not even one. How many times have you seen a story about Thunder Road having "technical difficulties"? I can think of only one. Newer doesn't necessarily mean better. If they are trying to get more people to come by changing things...taking away the old and replacing it with new, maybe they ought to try dropping their price of admission and the cost of a bottle of water instead. More people would come and be completely happy with what is offered if it didn't cost a fortune for admission or $3.79 for one bottle of Dasani water. Not to mention the $4 bottles of Coke at the machines throughout the park. And the "Fast Lane" passes are a little ridiculous. Not everyone can afford them but, we get to feel like the low man on the totem pole when we have to wait in the lines all day while the fortunate ones get to skip in line. I've also been directed to the back of the coaster, while Fast Lane Passholders are directed toward the front. How is that fair? I paid the same price that they did to get in. They should have to wait, too.
