My father helped build Carowinds working first with Boyd and Goforth and the for Pat Hall. I rode Thunder Road on its inaugural ride. Employees and their families were the first to give it a go and what a thrill ride it was! The front car i remember was just half metal domed over mesh. My uncle was senior ride mechanic at carowinds as well. It would be a shame to lose this historical icon.

There are plenty of wooden coaster enthusiasts who love this coaster! Not to mention that this coaster just says "Carowinds" to those of us who have lived here all our lives. To take it out would be a mistake.

Please don't take Thunder Road. This is why I come to Carowinds. It is so Iconic. Please take the Hurler instead. It's not enjoyable and seems like it's in a dead part of the park. Thanks and please consider.

thunder road may be old but it is iconic it's part of what makes carowinds a fun place. It's historic and fun and so many people have fond memories of this road. It should not go to the wayside to make room for new thrill rides.

What would Carowinds be without Thunder Road? I was looking foward to future memories with my kids on this coaster. I have so many from my childhood. Please keep Thunder Road!
