This IS my favorite coaster. Why go to Carowinds with out a Thunder Road?!?!

The first time I rode Thunder Road, it was with my father and brother. We went on the backwards facing train (way back when they still had it), and I ended up smashing my face on the safety bar multiple times. I came away from it with a bloody and swollen lip. It is still the best memory I have of the park in its entirety, and I will be damned if I let that opportunity be robbed of future generations. Just talking about retiring this ride is blasphemous, and it would be a great offense to the states of North and South Carolina and the wonderful people of those states.

Thunder Road is one of the few parts of the park that give it character. Don't retire it refurbish it.
Instead of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a new coaster that looks and feels basically like every other new coaster spend a few million refurbishing this coaster. Send out a press release and get the community of Charlotte excited about the project. It will sell tickets!

Thunder Road is an icon and a love of NC history. Please don't get rid of it! Wooden coasters are being taken down everywhere in favor of steel ones but some people prefer the classic clatter! If you save it, maybe one day it'll be the last wooden coaster around :)

Why can't they leave it up at least one more year for an even 40. One of the all time best rides.
