So sad. There are tree loppers chopping branches there now. It makes me feel sick! These trees are not only a home to many birds but are a natural landmark enjoyed by all of us who walk along the beautiful Swan River.

These trees are a link between our history and our future. As a resource they need to be protected. In addition cars coming to/from a garage that is sited to be close to this busy corner would pose a risk. Leaving the trees is one way of mitigating the risk, feeding and housing birds and other small animals and providing a more pleasant environment for residents and visitors alike.

The pine trees belong to us all and must be protected for their own sake and as a duty to the natural world. Why would the council even consider sanctioning this request; surely they should be the guardians of our heritage and protector of our green treasures.

The tree's in question are a local landmark, much like those on the north side of the river in North Fremantle.

Last month a large tree was removed over the week end in the Petra St carpark. Impotent EF council declared : " we take the removal of trees very seriously "!!! and now they have APPROVED the removal of these heritage norfolk pines. How hypocritical !!! very seriously indeed!! SHAME ON YOU council!

The trees are wonderful it would be a shame to see them go. They have been here longer than the houses.

These magnificent trees are a significant LANDMARK and are heritage listed. They are an intrinsical part of East Fremantle. Appalling bad decision by Council and Town Planner. The trees are HEALTHY!!! Killing them is totally unnecessary. Only reason is greed for more views. It is extremely disturbing that Council approved so quickly and without community consultation what is a bizzarre and totally unsympathetic re-development of this significant site.
