If it wasn't for ms. Stevenson i wouldnt have graduated from high school. If you take the best two teachers that actually care about their students away then what does that say about that school?

Iris and Al should remain on staff at Crenshaw and their classes should be added back into the curriculum. There wouldn't be a VAPA if it were not for these 2. They have lives everyday and prepare kids for adulthood

Music and Arts save life’s of children where life is only beautiful when they are the on one beat, one note with their peers and Mentors/Teachers. I ask is it fair to loose the music students for the art students to receive a new building or program or where the budget is actually going for the arts. It’s sad Adults would rather make more money to better their lives; while destroying a life music was once saving. Simply sad.

Why is it that every time there are “budget cuts,” the arts is the first thing to go? Mr. Tarver and Mrs. Stevenson have created a legacy for Crenshaw that will often be imitated but never duplicated. Both of them and their programs have brought positive attention to Crenshaw High School. They have molded young minds who have gone on to receive college scholarships in music (instrumental and chorale) and have become outstanding citizens and representatives in the world of performing arts nationally and internationally. They have given their heart and soul to Crenshaw. They must be retained at all cost.

I am a Crenshaw alum, and dance team/flag team alum. Both Mrs Stevenson are more than teachers. They are amazing mentors whom help so many of us (even after we leave Crenshaw).

The biggest mistake is to cut out performing arts from a child’s life. Mr. Tarver and Ms. Steverson. Would do anything for their students. Don’t make the mistake in letting them go.

Crenshaw HS c/o 2009. I implore that you keep Mr. Tarver and Ms. Stevenson as teachers at Crenshaw HS. They are and have been essential in the quality and growth of this school. Laying them off is saying that you do not care about the history of this school or the wellbeing of students. Programs like the arts help balance a child’s life and nurture their development and wellbeing. You cannot find anyone to replace Tarver or Stevenson as they have shown insurmountable passion, dedication, love, and triumph. Please do do not lay off Tarver or Stevenson.

Iris Stevenson is a piller in our community and a driving force for student achievement at Crenshaw high. Her removal from Crenshaw high school will be a set back for bbn our community and will widen the gap of students african American students in the art music. We must keep Ms. Stevenson at Crenshaw for the sake of our children in our communities

She is an icon and pillar of the community. She’s changed the lives so so many students, she should be awarded, not cut.

The work that these two outstanding individuals put into Crenshaw High School is essential. As a former BET magnet student, I did not have most of the classes that VAPA students did. However, Mrs. Stevenson and Mr. Al contributed to the entire school. As a BET magnet student, I was impacted by everything these teachers did, not only for VAPA magnet students, but all students.
