The administration just confirmed that the performing arts program will remain open and our teachers are keeping their positions. You showed up in force and proved that our community will not accept losing these vital programs. Keep watching the upcoming school board meetings to ensure this commitment stays in place.

The Principal of Crenshaw High School, Mr. Peter Benefiel, has made the unilateral decision to cut performing arts from the school beginning Fall 2020, and as a result, remove our beloved matriarchs Professor Iris Stevenson-McCullough and Mr. Al Tarver. Please sign this petition to show your support for #keepingthearts in our community and at Crenshaw High School.

this is no better than the gentrification going on in our community. Ms. Stevenson and Mr. Tarver are vital role models when it comes to Crenshaw High, the Crenshaw District and the whole Crenshaw experience!! you take them away is Crenshaw even Crenshaw?? I think not.

Crenshaw Choir is world renowned and apart of the High school legacy. It has reshaped the lives of countless youth. It would be a devastating blow to a community that has thrived with help from these teachers beyond what they have done within the gates of Crenshaw High.

TARVER is one of the best music teachers ever he goes above and beyond for us (students) And Ms. Stevenson is the same way . Both of these teachers have made my Crenshaw High school experience so much better I would hate to see them go #SAVECRENSHAW

These are not just teachers but institutions at our school. This decision should be reconsidered. I suspect this administrator will find out how unified all the Cougars of all generations are. Simba Wachangas 1969!

It's very important to have the arts in high school around areas like these in LA for our students. For some that want to pursue a career in the arts this might be the only opportunity they have before going to College and not knowing much. We should do better and give equal importance to the Arts as we do to Sports in schools. Los Angeles as. Whole is known for the Arts

Crenshaw High School is, was and will forever be a staple in the Crenshaw Community and beyond! By no means should the performing arts programs be cut! Studies have shown that within the communities of POC, the arts are often stripped away, without any recognition of the positive impact it has on the lives of young people. The arts are an outlet for many who do not have support outside of school. Please do not cut Crenshaw's programs.
