The council has officially scrapped the plans to dismantle our three tier system. I am overwhelmed knowing that our schools will remain exactly as they should be for the sake of our children. We must stay alert to ensure these community values remain protected in the years ahead.

During the autumn of 2010 North Yorkshire County Council carried out a review of provision for Children and Young People in North Craven. We the undersigned believe that the consultation process carried out by the county’s officers was deeply flawed, the consultation material biased and the basic elements upon which people were asked to make a decision incorrect, misleading and badly researched.
We further believe that the proposals made by the review panel, if allowed to go ahead, will fail to draw sufficient numbers of children from the villages of Ingleton, Bentham, Burton and Clapham to achieve its major objective of a competent 11-18 school at Settle and, as a consequence, will leave the area with a much poorer standard of educational provision.
In view of its inaccuracies we call on the executive committee to find the consultative process, misleading and unfair and to declare it invalid.

Seeing one hundred people sign this confirms I am not alone in my frustration with how our children are being treated. This system is the heartbeat of our villages and watching it face such thoughtless destruction is heartbreaking for my own family.

My own kids and their friends deserve a school system that actually works for them rather than one dismantled by flawed data. We need to reach one hundred signatures to prove our community is united so please send this link to your neighbors right now.

The three tier system works perfectly fine for our kids. Why are they trying to fix something that isnt broken? Leave our schools alone.
My oldest went through this system and did great. It gives kids a better transition period. Stop messing with our kids futures.
Listen to the parents for once instead of pushing your own agenda.
Keep it as it is. We dont want an 11-18 school in Settle. It just wont work for the village kids.
TOTAL DISGRACE. These people in charge clearly dont know the first thing about our local schools.
