Our Schools Are in Danger of Being Closed. Due to a significant shortfall in the Conneaut School District budget, the school board is considering closing one or more of our schools. We, the undersigned support the rich tradition of Conneaut Lake schools and oppose their closure. We believe there are other alternatives to solving this crisis. Closing a school(s) at the lake is a permanent action that harms education and seriously threatens our property values, the same property values that financially support the District. We support the idea of consolidation; however, we believe strongly that any planned consolidation must leave the Conneaut Lake Area Schools intact. Our school has the largest tax base, the most students, and the largest school buildings. For numerous reasons, including the financial and education reasons listed above, our school(s) should NOT be considered for closure. In the event that the school board negates to hear our voices, we will follow the Pennsylvania Department of Education Independent School District procedure to file a Petition in the Crawford County Court of Common Pleas to separate from Conneaut School District.
