SAVE THE DOMESTIC VISA!

The Government is proposing to end the provision of domestic workers from overseas to come to the UK as part of the overall objective to reduce net migration by the end of the Parliamentary term on 9th September 2011. This will adversely affect the availability of domestic workers for placement in the United Kingdom.

If the proposals are implemented, it will remove the basic employment rights for domestic migrant workers:

  • You will no longer be allowed to change employer or renew your domestic visa
  • You will no longer be allowed to become a permanent resident in the UK and bring your family to the UK
  • Maximum stay for a domestic worker will be limited to six months

The Housekeeper Company is tirelessly campaigning for the domestic visa to continue, and regularly working with Kalayaan and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), meeting with Home Office officials and Members of Parliament.

*We must urgently take action prior to this date to save the domestic visa! If you support our efforts to save the domestic visa, please add your signature below.

We, the undersigned, call upon the Government to protect the Domestic Visa.
