Oxford City Council is planning to close Temple Cowley Swimming Pools, comprising swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room and multi-activity room. The Council wants to build a new swimming pool (25m x 8 lane, same size as at TCP) in Blackbird Leys . If this happens, the users of Temple Cowley will lose local provision for swimming, gym and sauna facilities, and have to travel outside the ring road.

The persistence of this campaign reveals how deeply the loss of our local facilities would be felt by the entire neighborhood. While the council remains quiet I have been organizing our next steps to ensure our concerns are properly presented in formal meetings. These stories shared by residents continue to be the primary motivation for our ongoing work.

PLEASE DONT CLOSE IT. I go there 3 times a week for the gym. it helps my back so much.
the council never listens. same old story in oxford. stop tearing down our community facilities.
my kids learned to swim here. closing it is such a slap in the face to everyone in cowley. we need this pool.
Absolute madness. Temple Cowley is a vital hub for so many regulars. They just want the land for housing I bet.
what a joke. they dont care about us at all.

Ridiculous idea. Taking the bus all the way to blackbird leys is not an option for me. Keep it open!
