Swope Park Disc Golf Course is a treasure to the disc golf community, as an everyday recreation facility locally and a historic landmark for the sport nationally and worldwide. Kansas City has long been one of the largest and most active disc golf communities in the world and Swope DGC has been and continues to be one of it's cornerstones. From crowning world champions following the PDGA Worlds finals to PDGA National Tour events to charity fundraisers, this course has provided one of the best platforms for the sport of disc golf for decades. Please try to find another solution less detrimental to a community for the proposed shelter.

I travel to Kansas City from Sacramento, California quite frequently. There are two major attractions for me while I’m there. Swope disc golf park, and Lutfi’s. Please don’t take the disc golf park. It’s a growing sport, and waterworks can’t handle the increased traffic. I know from first hand experience when we lost our second major 18 hole in my home town. Our other major course has so much traffic on a weekend now, that you have to show up and get in line an hour or more to tee off. From there, you wait for 15+ minutes per hole. All in all it takes over double what it should to play Shady Oaks in Orangevale, Ca.

To whom it may concern,
I’m signing this petition to request that the City reconsider their plan to remove Swope Park Disc Golf Course. Disc Golf offers a healthy and active experience that crosses socio/economic barriers, an essential element for outdoor usage space in a diverse city such as yours. So many activities these days have exorbitant costs that many working class people, adults and children alike, do not have the means to pay for. The Disc Golf Park at Swope Park has been a cornerstone of the community for years, offering an easily accessible and affordable healthy and active form of entertainment, competition, exercise. The sport of Disc Golf teaches and fosters the same strong values of competition, ethics, and camaraderie as traditional golf as well as other youth and adult league sports. Removing this course would be a loss for the community and take away a wonderful, low impact, low cost, and high use asset that almost anyone in the community can share and enjoy. Again, I hope you will reconsider you decision and work with the local Club to move forward with the course in a positive direction.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Brent Jacobs

Too much history to just do away with. Especially with the explosion of disc golf in the country!

Swope Park is big enough for both.
Keep the course!
One of the first courses I ever played.
