Final supporters
Sprinker Recreation Center in Spanaway, WA was once considered the "Crown Jewel" of Pierce County. Unfortunately, due to lack of regular maintenance and renovation, the torn and tattered facility now faces a dim future. The Pierce County Parks and Recreation Department has recommended the facility be closed on October 31, 2010.
Home to hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, Sprinker has been allowed to deteriorate. Faulty equipment in the ice arena has rusted the metal roof to the point building officials say it is no longer safe under heavy rain or snow.
Now is the time for citizens to unite and urge the Pierce County Council and Pierce County Executive to provide the necessary funding that will bring the back the sparkle to this beloved facility. Your voice matters. Stand up for Sprinker and the citizens who utilize this great facility ... Tell the County Council and the County Executive: "Closure is NOT an option!" We want Sprinker saved and we want it saved NOW!

Seeing 250 people back this cause brings me right back to the hours I spent in that ice arena as a kid. I never imagined so many others felt the same way about saving Sprinker. This momentum proves we are not willing to let this place crumble away.

I grew up skating at Sprinker and watching it crumble feels like losing a piece of my own home. We are nearing the hundred mark and I need you to push this link to your neighbors right now to show the council that our community refuses to let this facility die.

THIS PLACE IS A LANDMARK. grew up going to the rink every weekend. so much history there it would be a total shame to lose it now.
ridiculous that they let it get this bad. keep the doors open and get it fixed right.
been playing hockey at sprinkler since i was a kid. the county is failing us. keep it open.
my kids have been skating there for years. where are they supposed to go if this closes? fix the roof and stop wasting our tax dollars on other stuff.
spanaway needs this place. dont shut us down.
