Save Sligo Creek Golf Course! Montgomery County is threatening to close Sligo Creek Golf Course on October 1, 2009. For over half a century, this beautiful, 9-hole tract near downtown Silver Spring has been a precious recreational resource, a “gateway to golf” for youths, minorities, women, and senior citizens of the entire region. Therefore, WE, the undersigned, request that the Montgomery County Council: ** Keep Sligo Creek Golf Course open for at least two years; ** Work with our community to develop a plan to make it self-sustaining; and ** Adopt a covenant that guarantees there will be no development on this tree-filled green space forever.
