Save Shoemaker School Road

To The Loudoun County Board Of Supervisors January 2008 We, the undersigned, oppose the paving of Shoemaker School Road, Purcellville, Virginia, or its inclusion in the state Rural Rustic Road Program. Shoemaker School Road has a long and rich history, named for a school residents built in the 1800s for the children of former slaves who previously had to walk to Lincoln to attend class. It is currently home to 50 families and farm owners who regularly walk, jog, bike and even ride horses on it. We believe that any kind of paving will harm Shoemaker School Road\'s rural environment, result in dangerous speeding that will jeopardize the safety of residents, tax an already pressured state transportation budget and lead to further development or even road widening.
