We, the undersigned, petition against the potential closure of RAF Leuchars. We secondly petition against the closure of any RAF bases within Scotland. These are strategically vital airbases used in the defence of our country and are also vital as a staging point of any helicopter rescues that may be needed offshore. These bases have unquestionably proved their worth over the years. They are also the best places for pilots to train as the only fly zones are within the Highlands of Scotland. To close these bases and relocate all personnel and equipment to England would result in the devastation of local communities, and also in higher costs to fly up to Scotland to train and then fly back to England again after training.
