Please save the farm! It's been a family tradition for us to visit the farm for years. Can't imagine it gone! What a shame for the community!

Having gone to Pierce and attending the animal sciences classes it is a shame to shut this needed part of the college down. I have pet and have met veterinary techs who have attended Pierce. The animal sciences also provide the children nearby to experience a farm setting with the fields and animals. I hope this can be reversed so that this part of the community can continue to enjoy what is the only country setting that I know of in the valley. Also, De Soto is a nightmare to drive down now and with more constuction being built it will be even worse. Who is allowing this kind of construction and gridlock in Woodland Hills? Used to be a beautiful place to live.

That is an absurd decision. Where are students in these fields supposed to study? At a time when so many elementary, middle, and senior high schools are establishing gardens to teach students the benefit of growing your own food, and so many people have more pets than ever, which necessitates the training of more and more veterinarians (and other animal-related careers), WHY would you even THINK of closing down the Farm? Surely, you can think of a way to sustain it. If not, you shouldn't be in the position you hold.

The Board of Trustees should be ashamed of themselves. This is not a private college yet you have made a decision that you cannot justify. Your refusal to discuss the matter proves yout arrogance & disrespect for the community.

They should be called the Board of Distrustees. They're entrusted with safeguarding the institution, not their "vision" of it. So, children and young adults are supposed to learn where their food comes from at a museum? Don't wonder why children don't know that potato chips come from a potato, grown in the ground.

Shutting down the Pierce Farm is a short-sighted move that the Board of Trustees will regret. Future Board members will look back on you as clueless bureaucrats who took something unique and priceless and destroyed it for no sensible reason. Is that really what Joy McCaslin and the board want to be remembered for -- the bureaucrats who destroyed a beloved community institution?
