Over the past 5 years , a small GP Surgery (a patient list of approximately 3500 ) in Spearpoint Gardens , Aldborough Road North , Newbury Park, Ilford Essex has been under constant threat of closure . I successfully waged war with a fact finding mission and petition against the Primary Care Trust to prevent this surgery from closure not once but twice . Once again this surgery is under threat of closure . The real reasons of course , although not disclosed , would be for financial reasons and not for the good of the patients. Over 80% of the patients are in walking distance of this surgery and over 60% are over the age of 62. The proposals by the PCT are to close the surgery without any form of consulation ! There are no direct bus routes to any other surgeries in the Borough from Spearpoint Gardens . So what happens to all the patients registered at Spearpoint Gardens ?? To add to the over subscribed surgeries in the Borough would have a detrimental impact on the welfare of the patients needing the services of their local GP. The over ambitious plans by the PCT to build a polyclinic in the grounds of King George Hospital have been ditched due to lack of funding !  Spearpoint Gardens Surgery has been a GP Practice for over 60 years . It is crucial that it remains as a surgery and continues to be a hub of the community . The Primary Care Trust must be made to put patients first and to care for their community. Please sign this on line petition to show your support for SAVING OUR SURGERY - KEEP SPEARPOINT GARDENS SURGERY OPEN ! If you are not a patient at this surgery and do not think this effects you, you would be very wrong . The PCT has already started closing GP surgeries across London and yours could be next !

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum this has gathered lately. It feels like the community is finally being seen and that is entirely due to the energy you all have brought to this fight.

this is ridiculous. they want us to go to king george but its a nightmare to get there and the wait times are already long enough as it is. leave our local gp alone!

The surgery is the heart of our area. 60 years of history just thrown away for some budget cut. Stop this.

Absolute joke. They never ask us what we want, just decide and hope we dont notice. Not happening this time.

Too many elderly people in this street to be walking miles for an appointment. It isnt safe for them.
