I have started this petition for the parents of the children who attend Walkley Primary School. I have spent the last 2 years utterly confused as to why my childs shoes are lasting less than a month. When my son attended a previous school his shoes would last for months at a time and only need to be replaced when he had worn the soles down. However since changing schools my son has come home regularily with worn patches on the TOPs of the toe area and on the sides round the ankles. At first i believed he must have been rolling around in the playground and found myself repeatedly telling a confused child to stop rolling on the floor at playtime. Now, they have spent a week stuck inside due to snow and ice on the playground, yet here i am, FOUR days into his new pair and the leather top coat has been completely worn off to reveal the rough, softer, none waterproof layer underneath. At the rate previously experienced by his other shoes i predict there will be holes forming withing the next week. Due to my horror that i am having to buy new shoes once or twice a MONTH i went on a mission to find out the cause of this. It is the school's classroom carpets! They are old, worn, and completely rough in texture, which is wearing at the shoes as they sit on the carpet many times a day. If you have experienced the same issue with your child's school shoes then please sign this petition. This is a polite, none aggressive petition that i will hand in when we have reached enough signatures to make a point and request its obviously time they get around to sorting the old carpets out. Along with an example statement along the lines of "if every one of these parents has to buy new school shoes for one child every month and even if they find a cheap pair for £10, then still the total comes to *estimate here* in school shoes having to be bought a month/a term/a school year so that our children can attend school in the appropriate footwear the school expects and demands us to provide. Thank you for taking the time to read this
