Next year students across Ontario face a grave problem. School Boards all across Ontario will be cutting funding to sports and extracurricular activities. Although we understand that we are going through tough times, the severity of the funding cuts are ludicrous. Athletes payed $25 per sport per person in the 2011-2012 year. Next year athletes will see that number rise to nearly $250-$300. They will be forced to pay for the vast majority of the fees associated with the sports they play. Budget cuts will hit clubs as well. These clubs are an integral part of what it means to be a student. These are all part of the high school experience. The school boards will be making it extremely difficult for students to pursue all their non-academic interests in school.

We do not want this to happen next year. We want to see these budget cuts partially repealed. A less severe cut to our budget would allow the government to balance it's budget and allow students to play the sports they love, enjoy the extracurricular activities that the school has to offer and properly enjoy the life of a high school student.
