Scenic and Wild Northwest Connecticut
Dear Connecticut Siting Council, Connecticut General Assembly, Governor Malloy, Connecticut Members of Congress, the President of United States, and all others,
We, the undersigned, believe the proposed placement by BNE of 40 story industrial wind turbines in Northwest Connecticut should be denied. While we are supporters of renewable energy, we believe it is crucial that we plan and implement these types of projects with care and respect to the host communities and environment. Northwest Connecticut is an exceptional natural and cultural resource. Our local economy depends heavily on tourism, recreation, agriculture and the arts.
This poorly conceived energy production facility in Colebrook lacks common sense and is sited improperly. BNE has little experience and Paul Corey, the chairman, is notorious for giving illegal gifts to politicians. There is not enough wind, it is very close to homes, businesses will be hurt, pristine wetlands destroyed, bald eagles threatened, and a rural area industrialized. The absence of
state regulations is dangerous, costs taxpayers money, and has a negative
effect on our economy, our environment and our community.
