As a hockey parent with youth playing in the St Louis Park Youth Hockey Association I want to see Norhside Park on Louisiana Avenue remain a lighted outdoor hockey and skating facility. Currently there are only 2 of these standard size lighted rinks remaining in St. Louis Park. Over the last 30 years St Louis Park has lost most of there well located outdoor rinks including the Community Center 2 rinks (near the high school and McDonalds) and Cedar Manor Elementary Rink. All of these were highly used rinks in visible locations.
Participant numbers of hockey youth have decreased in St Louis Park versus nearby cities in the last 30 years. The continued closing of these outdoor facilities has contributed to youth not playing in the wonderful sport of ice hockey!
