Save Moreno Valley's Jobs Plan!
To the governing members of the Moreno Valley Unified School District: Given the record high level of unemployment in the City of Moreno Valley, protecting existing jobs and attracting new private sector jobs to Moreno Valley is the most important priority of its residents who are also your constituents. On April 26, 2011 the Moreno Valley City Council unanimously approved an Economic Development Action Plan that will aggressively move to grow our city's local economy, attract and retain businesses, and bring greatly needed jobs to Moreno Valley. Selecting High School Site #2 will undermine the City's Economic Development Action Plan by locating a future high school in the midst of eastern Moreno Valley. This will prevent the creation of an industrial-business center that will bring up to 30,000 good paying jobs that residents desperately need. Selecting High School Site #2 will also cost both the City and the School District revenues that would be received through development fees and taxes that would be generated from the $2 billion economic impact of this industrial-business center. We the undersigned ask that you do not select Site #2 for a new high school and remove it from consideration.
