I am married and have eight children. Last year, I pulled my children out of a well regarded public school system in the Northern Valley District of Bergen County. I did this because of the toxic culture in which our public school system has become. I knew I had to do something drastic or my children would be eaten up alive in the curriculum that they were feeding contrary to my faith. It didn't make sense at the time because any "smart" family, you pay to live in these types of towns to get into these "successful" schools. I was doing something contrary to what normal families do. I knew it was the sacrifice I needed to make for the sake of my children's future. But, where could I find a truly Catholic school that could replace this education but not sacrifice the faith I transmit? I live near two Blue Ribbon Catholic schools in Oradell/New Milford at St. Joseph's and Academy of Our Lady in Glen Rock. I visited them both and came away unimpressed. It was a shell of a Catholic school. A beautiful building/campus but nothing impressive inside. I am sorry, but this is the reality I saw from the Archdiocese's most prized schools. Then, by a miracle, I found Mother Seton and Ms. McErlaine. God led me to this school and this holy woman; truly a saint living amongst us. What I saw in Mother Seton was a community in a building that probably has seen it's better days, but inside full of life and the message of the Gospel. A small community, living in humility, simplicity and praise; just like the Holy Family of Nazareth. The first day I entered Mother Seton and experienced the community at this school, I was jealous. I wanted my children to have what these children had. I wanted my family to be part of this family. I wanted to be part of this reality. That's what set this school apart; not the building, not the money but the community living the New Evangelization. Mother Seton had me at day one. Ms McErlaine and the community welcomed us even thou

We ask you Cardinal Tobin to please think of all the children and families affected by this decision. Allow the school to reopen by creating a new plan that can meet your requirements and allowS the school to welcome all the children.

As a teacher in Union City where the schools have been closed for proven safety reasons, we implore Mother Seton School to consider the extreme severity of our present classroom situation.

My deceased son graduated from Mother Seton 19 years ago. It would be sad to see it close. He would be crushed.

I am a parent of 4 Mother Seton school students. 3 have graduated and one was starting 4th grade. We are very grateful for the Catholic education that our children have received and the love they have received from the teachers and the principal Ms. Mary McErlaine who recently passed away. We were looking forward to Mr. Isiah Gomez, the newly hired principal, to help continue the legacy of Mother Seton School and especially in this time of so many challenges and difficult time of the children losing their beloved principal Ms. McErlaine. Mr. Gomez has been a teacher for many years and a familiar face to the children. We hope he gets the opportunity to continue with his new mission as principal of our school.
