This petition is to highlight the power us, as students, have with regards to our own Lufbra experience. As you may or may not be aware there are currently plans to knock down the Towers Hall dining area, laundrette and common room. Imagos current plan for Towers Hall is to remove the dining hall and in its place build a new common room with laundry/ toilets and kitchen. Despite there being no dining hall Towers would still be fully catered with Breakfast at Martin Hall, Lunch anywhere on campus and dinner at Linford (EHB). Obviously you can appreciate that this proposal is simply unacceptable for Towers Hall students due to not only it’s inconvenient locations for dining but also the detrimental effect it would have on the Lufbra Halls experience, not to mention students study. Of course this group is not just about Towers. This group is about showing the power of the student voice at Loughborough at its best, in unity. The powers that be have previously attempted to move away from having individual dining halls which prompted this response from students in 2007 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBwGRvMnZ3w Although this plan only currently effects Towers Hall this is simply the tip of the iceberg with regards to the Universities plans for catered dining halls. We need to protect our dining halls and with it our individuality from which the Lufbra experience stems. Dining halls are an integral part to the Lufbra experience and University life. We are calling for members of all catered and non-catered halls as well town students to get behind this campaign and save not only the Towers dining hall, but the Lufbra student experience. We as students deserve the right to have our voices heard and in unity we have that power. The powers that be don't understand what they are messing with in regards to our dining halls and the community experience of halls. I could write a million words to try and communicate this to them but unfortunately it's only a matter in which those who know it are those that have lived it. Together we can protect our student experience, Save Lufbra 2012
