It has come to the attention of the students of Phillipsburg High School, both current and former, that history teacher Ms. Laurie Johnson will no longer be teaching the AP History class, or any other history class, for the coming fall 2008 semester. The undersigned firmly believe that this decision will adversely affect a significant number of history students attending PHS for this Fall semester, especially the AP history students. Ms. Johnson\'s zeal and enthusiasm in teaching these classes, and her dedication to her students, inspire all students to give their best efforts in class. The value of a Phillipsburg education will suffer by moving an exceptional history teacher to a subject area that is neither her forte nor her passion. The school is losing both an exceptional first year German teacher, Mr. Mark Kotulich, and an extraordinary history teacher, Ms. Laurie Johnson, in this shuffle. The undersigned agree that Ms. Johnson should remain in her position as a history teacher, a place where she can realize her full potential.

This petition is sponsored by the students and parents of Phillipsburg High School who believe that a vested interest in allowing the best teachers to teach what they love is an integral part of academic success for all students. Ms. Johnson is our friend and mentor, and we will stand up for her against even the most dire odds to ensure that she is allowed to inspire future generations of students in American history.
