The University finally backed down and scrapped their pathetic plan to gut the Humanities department. They tried to erase 125 years of history but our pressure forced them to retreat. We won this round, but stay sharp because we are watching to make sure they actually keep their word.

The administration at the University thinks they can bury a century of tradition because the Humanities do not fit their narrow bottom line. I have been spending my nights digging through their budget reports and their excuses are falling apart under scrutiny. This fight is far from over and we have no intention of letting them erase our local history.

KEEP WELSH ALIVE. This is cardiff not some corporate office we need our language and culture protected.
my mum did classes here for years. its shameful to just drop everything because of some bean counter in an office.
so sad to see this happen. learning meant so much to the people of this city.
125 years of history down the drain for what?? save these courses.
Such a joke. Humanities is what makes a uni a uni. You cant just get rid of history and literacy.

I have been going to the center for a decade and it has been a lifeline for me. Please dont do this.
