This group is an effort to save the 6 six Jacksonville Libraries that are on the chopping block because the city claims they don't have the money to keep them open. For those who live here and use these services, and see the value of them for ourselves, our families, the idea of education for the future generations, we need our voice to be heard. This city is about much more than the people who might come here and spend money, if we let our city run to the ground in the pursuit of profit we all lose. We are the ones with something to lose, the ones making the profit can do it here or anywhere else.

Updates

June 26, 2013

The city officials continue to ignore our messages while they prepare to gut our libraries for the sake of their profit margins. I have been spending my nights digging through their budget proposals and their excuses for closing these branches are nothing but lies. We will not let them abandon our community just to pad their own pockets.

Greedy city council back at it again. Always cutting services for us while giving tax breaks to their friends.

Ridiculous. They find money for stadium upgrades but close down the places that actually help the community. Fix your budget!

Keep them open. Libraries are the heart of a neighborhood.

so many people rely on the computers there to find work. closing these branches is going to hurt the most vulnerable people in the city.
