we locals appreciate your attempt on enhancing the area. but we do strongly advise you that there are better ways to spend this amount of money! i am against the expansion of the 174, and against cutting a huge amount of trees, and against spending so much money! better ways: investing in education, homeless persons advancements, fire victim help, and so much more! if the funds are designated and it needs to be road related expenditure by a certain date (otherwise less funds for the next year) , what about passing on it and donating it decisively to a cause that really needs it?!

As a 13 year Nevada County resident I am appalled by this proposal. The removal of trees should be done only as a last resort, and this “improvement” is unnecessary and dangerous. It will disrupt peoples homes and land, cause even more high speed accidents, and this stretch will become an eyesore in an otherwise scenic area. DO NOT widen highway 174.

This will hurt tourism and not improved road safety. It needs to be halted while other options are explored.

I am opposed to this realignment and would like to help in any way I could; I was formerly a right of way agent for the County of San Diego, and am a commercial real estate broker. I live off of You Bet Road.

Hwy 49 is a death trap. Address what is a priority. Widen the road why? More traffic, higher speeds, taking away property from home owners and backing up traffic.
Waste of tax payers money.

I oppose this project as it will clear cut 1700 trees and affect many many landowners. In addition, it will not make the road safer it was allow people to drive faster and there will still be accidents. The answer is to slow down and possibly have a CHP officer to ticket speeders.

Add more Highway patrol put in a stop/turn light at You Bet- 174 and a caution light at Greenhorn Access rd. Lot cheaper than proposed construction. You could hire a lot of CHP officers for 23 million dollars

It's not a serious enough problem that extreme measures like this are necessary.

I am opposed to the widening of our scenic 174 ..and making it another ghastly 49 disaster.. surely there could be compromise in the extreme design Cal tran has proposed
