Totally against this project. We see what happened when the highway was a widened just before Union Hill School. We do not need another fast highway, like highway 49.

This is a waste of tax payers money. It is possible to improve safety without destroying the beauty of hwy 174. We must explore alternatives.

There must be a better solution to achieve the goal of making Hwy 174 safer. Please put this on hold to listen to the community and reevaluate the alternatives (if you even have thought of any - if not, now is the time to come up with one).

Save the trees as the removal of them are not needed. 174 does not need to be widened.

Hwy 49 is the highway that needs to be made safer. 174 is a pleasant country road with no safety hazards.

I feel outraged that our tax money is being used in such useless way, a beautiful scenic route is being widened bringing in more traffic, higher speeds and losing trees when we need to plant and not cut trees out. I hope that we, as a community we'll be heard. Thank you

Caltrans can implement other measures to improve safety on Hwy 174 and existing speed limit needs to be enforced. Have they considered placing speed indicators along this section of the road? Caltrans was planning to make similar road changes on Hwy 84, Niles Canyon Rd. between Sunol and Fremont and stopped project due to public protest. They are doing similar projects on highways throughout California which increase traffic volume and speed.

I live off hwy 174 I love the road don't take it away! I do not drive 49 because it is unsafe. The road will become very dangerous to drive if Caltrains is allowed to mangle the road up.

Creating a 2 mile high speed section in the middle of our scenic hwy will truly put lives at great risk.

If Caltrans proceeds with their plan of widening Highway 174, I will lose the row along the highway of huge healthy Ponderosa trees that provide a screen from the noise and view of traffic. This rural highway will become a speedway. I oppose this project.

I oppose the loss of trees on Hwy 174. This is a scenic drive and shouldn't be demolished to turn it into a freeway. Which will invite more traffic, more accidents, smog and trash.
