Essex Counties Horace Nye Home is a Non-Mandated service. The Nursing Home is a 100 bed facility providing quality care. If Essex County sells the Nursing Home the residents of this county who are Medicaid dependent will not have the safety-net of the Horace Nye Home. There are no provisions in place to assist Medicaid dependent residents who will need skilled nursing services in the future. Many privately owned homes do not accept Medicaid as payment which will result in difficulty finding much needed care to loved ones who are no longer able to function in assisted living or alone at home. We feel that some services were put into place to ensure our neediest would be cared for through the acts of government.
