Don't Cut Goodyear Public Safety
The people of Goodyear, Arizona understand our city is in a financial bind. But cutting public safety is not the answer. A core function of government is to ensure the safety of the people. Public safety is in place to protect the general public, the people, from significant danger, injury and harm, and crimes and disasters. Fewer fire fighters and police officers mean it will take longer for help to arrive in cases of emergencies. We do not believe that personal safety should be compromised when the money is tight. Furthermore, we do not believe that spending $150,000 to layoff 13 fire fighters is a wise budgetary decision. Please find other ways to make budget cuts without cutting our public safety manpower on the streets.
