Stop Changes to BC Fixed-Term Tenancy Laws

The person who owns the property should have the freedom to charge free market rents. This proposal will have a devastating effect on rental stock because no one will want to be a landlord.

Fixed term tenancy is an option only. The lease is signed based on mutually agreement between the landlord and tenant. It provides security and peace of mind for both parties about the residency of the property. The tenants always have the rights to choose somewhere else if the landlord does not provide other options. This is why the housing supply is not enough because the rules do not play fair for both parties.

Removing Fixed Term Option is bad for tenants who then risk being reno-victed with 60 day notice. Provides certainty and therefore less stress to tenants.

Both tenants and landlords enter into a fixed term fully understanding their contractual roles as to the end of tenancy as well as serving a desired short term occupancy.

Foreign tax, empty tax, short term rental ban, and now this. Neither did your office conduct a proper study before implementing anything. Liberals will lose the next election. That will be the realty.

Too much time and our hard earned tax dollars have been spent by government and politicians too freely on creating more rules and rules that only make things worse. Fixed term tenancies allow owners and tenants to make choices that are reasonable and good for both parties. Changing this will have everyone shy away from rental apartment ownership or upgrading rental conditions or building new, thereby reducing rental units available for tenants' options.

Eliminating fixed lease terms will reduce new construction of purpose built apartment buildings.

Fixed-term tenancies should be allowed. Tenants and landlords should have the option to choose the type of tenancy.

I am an Owner of a 10 suite Apt Building in Marpole.As my rents have been low over many years, and my property taxes keep increasing along with trying to maintain my building,I want to try and save the Fixed Term Lease.Thank you

This is not helpful to anyone as I get lots of tenants that want a fixed term lease. Which is good for both of us as I know when the unit will be vacant and when it isn't
