On Halloween, October 31, 2013, Eric Meade hosted friends at his apartment at Wolverine Crossing in Orem, UT. The night consisted of poker and listening to music until around two am, when Zach Bateman (another resident of said apartment) and another friend joined the group from a bar in Provo. Around four in the morning, at least two hours after the party ended, the apartment was visited by a CA (Community Ambassador) because of a noise complaint. A friend answered the door. Zach was asleep, while Eric was picking up an early breakfast at McDonald's, which means that there was not an actual tenant to oversee the inspection; the CA did not have any authority to inspect the apartment. Two days after the party, on November 2, 2013, an eviction notice was served to Eric and Zach for "having/consuming alcohol on the Wolverine Crossing property". The reason the evictions were served is because the manager of the apartments heard, "through the grapevine", from a disgruntled roommate about these false accusations. Wolverine Crossing never approached Eric or Zach with these accusations or questions. Eric and Zach were wrongly evicted and accused of false activities because of a matter of hearsay. The purpose of this petition is to hold Wolverine Crossing accountable for breaking their own contract of residency by evicting residents without just cause, and to allow Eric and Zach to remain as resident of Wolverine Crossing.

Updates

November 5, 2013

The management at Wolverine Crossing has chosen to ignore our repeated attempts at contact while Eric and Zach remain in this impossible situation. I am currently gathering every piece of documentation we have to prove that this eviction was based on nothing but neighborhood gossip. Your willingness to stand behind them provides the pressure we need to force a real conversation.

Seeing this kind of momentum feels like a weight lifting off my shoulders because I know Eric and Zach deserve better than this hearsay eviction. You all are showing that an apartment complex cannot just ruin lives based on rumors alone.

Ridiculous! Kicking tenants out based on hearsay is not how landlords should operate. Hope things get cleared up soon.

Wolverine crossing is the worst. They always look for any excuse to kick people out. Total bs move.

This is completely unfair. Evicting people based on petty gossip is insane especially when they werent even home. Hope they get to stay.
