I attended Ellington schools my whole life. The food service ladies are amazing to us kids and really care about the quality of the food being put out.

They say it is not personal, then it must be financial. How can it be financial when Food Services is a self-operated program? Food Service Management Companies charge fees to the school district on a monthly basis. Wouldn't the fees be better invested to the in-house food services program rather than corporate stockholders pockets?

It would actually cost Ellington money to outsource. Right now the food service department is self sufficient and does not depend on the BOE for any financial support.

Some of these woman who work in the cafeterias have been their for 20+ years! Outsourcing their jobs to save a few bucks is unexceptional! Ellington is a small town! Let’s keep that small town mentality.

Keep the lunch program as it is,we don’t need or want it to be outsourced for pre made food!
