Support your local Firefighters – Save Carlton Retained
On the day that the new £3.5 milion, state-of-the-art, eco-friendly Fire Station became operational, due to the budget cutbacks from central government, Carlton's Retained section were notified that they were in-line for redundancy within months.
The Fire Authority meets on February 25th to decide and confirm the budget for the following year and this petition is a part of the campaign to show the members of the Authority the strength of local feeling and that cutting back from two Fire Engines to just one at Carlton will leave significant holes in local fire cover and will put lives of both the public, and of Firefighters at an unnecessary risk.
Carlton's Retained section provides this vital cover to the district and its Firefighters display the very best community qualities you would expect from a uniformed service. Providing 84 or more hours of their time a week to be on call, at all times of day or night to be with you within minutes, keeping the pool of 22 community Firefighters costs around £125,000 a year. A small price to pay knowing that in your moment of need, your local Fire Service will be there.
Now, they need your support. If you can sign this online petition, it will go a little way towards showing that you care about your local Fire Service and your local Carlton Retained Firefighters.
Thank you.
