The city council has granted the exception and Bosco is officially cleared to remain in his home with us. This outcome reflects the kindness of neighbors who spoke up for a small companion in our community. We will continue to monitor local regulations to ensure Bosco remains settled and safe.

Final supporters
Hello to all friends of Bosco. Bosco needs your help. On August 13th, 2010 it was brought to our attention that a code written in 1935 prohibits Alameda residents from having "swine" within 300 feet of a dwelling. We are in the process of looking for options to have Bosco remain with us in Alameda.
In September we will approach the Alameda City Council seeking an exception to the code, or a revised code altogether, for Bosco. By signing this informal petition, you can show your support and love for him as well.
We welcome all friends of Bosco, pig lovers, and pet owners to sign this petition, especially if you live in Alameda. Please include your full name and address so when we submit to the City, they can identify that the support is within the Alameda community as well. We will not contact you personally, give your information to anyone, and your personal information is not visible to other signers.

Reaching this new threshold will provide us with the clear evidence needed to show the council that our community values his place here. We frequently walk by Bosco's yard on our walks and he's usually sleeping or inside. I've never seen him be noisy or noticed any smell. He's a nice part of Alameda and I hope he's here for a long time.
Bosco has been a wonderful character to visit on our long walks during the Covid-19 Shelter In Place. He's the highlight of our walks. Every time we have gone by, he has been happily napping or snacking. He is definitely an asset to the island giving many residents and their children a chance to experience an animal up close that they would not ordinarily get to see. We love Bosco!
Revise the Alameda code so that Bosco and other pigs like him can reside in Alameda!
Bosco is and has been a delight for the kids as well as the adults, he is well cared for and poses no problems for the city of Alameda.
Bosco is a treat for those who lvie and work or who visit the western end of Alameda, from school chidlren to passers-by. I work as a substitute teacher in Almeda schools and it is a pleasure to show the very easygoing Bosco to students, friends and coworkers while walking around Bosco's neighborhood.
Bosco is the BEST!

So Special to meet Bosco as we were parking blocks away to get to downtown. What a gift to say hello and appreciate such a wonderful animal. We are most grateful
