We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the Bakersfield City Council and the California High Speed Rail Authority utilize the "red" route through Bakersfield, California. We recognize that the "blue" route would require the destruction of at least one building on the Bakersfield High School campus. Such action would adversely affect the cultural history of the town and possibly force relocation of the school as the campus already has the fewest acres of the city's 15 comprehensive high schools. The Bakersfield High School campus is well-beloved not only among alumni, but is revered also as a historical treasure to the city and Kern County. Please choose the "red" route and save a piece of history. Save 117 years of tradition. Save Bakersfield High School.
