The Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto is conducting an internal review of all interdisciplinary and College-based programs. The goal of it is to find where budget cuts can be made. Departments have been told to submit a long-term plan, but to assume that their budgets will not be increased and that current and future faculty vacancies won't be filled. Many of the programs targeted are critical area studies, such as Caribbean and African studies, and are already at risk due to a lack of support from the central administration. It has been made clear that, once this review process is done, all other departments will be subject to similar reviews. The review committee is composed entirely of Administrative staff, with no student representation whatsoever, in spite of the effect this will have on our education. What is SAVE ARTS AND SCIENCE at UofT The Save Arts and Science campaign is a coalition of arts and science students, friends and allies united to inform the student body about the imminent threats to their programs at University of Toronto. WE WANT: * To stop the cuts to Arts and Science programs on the St. George campus at the university of Toronto * To educate students of the critical importance of immediate mobilization and resistance against the dismantling of arts and science programs at U of T * To engage in acts of protest against the removal of undergraduate programs at the St. George campus * THIS CONCERNS US ALL!!! HOW DO I GET INVOLVED * Sign the petition * Join the facebook group * 2nd week of January, there will be a larger student assembly, which will involve all arts and science students.
