The school District has decided to cut back on School Bus Transportation. Meaning if you live within 2 miles from the school, your child will have to walk to school. Is this really where we should be cutting corners to save money? With the lives of our minor children? This 2 mile rule should ONLY apply to Junior High School and up. Before this 2 mile rule came into play you were not allowed to leave your child that is under 3rd grade at a bus stop. A parent had to be present, but it's okay to allow a child under 3rd grade to walk 2 miles to school? I live 1.7 miles from Deltona Elementary school. My daughter has to cross Spring Hill Drive, which has been known to have many car accidents. She will then have to walk down Delton Blvd with NO sidewalks. My daughter is 7 years old. There is no way I would let her walk. So many children have been kidnapped and Killed around these ages. The School District does not seem to care for the safety of our children. The way i see it is "Save a dollar...Lose a child." Help me, other parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles or anyone that has children in there family out there who are having the same issue. Help bring back the School Bus System for the safety of our children.
