Hello All, The government of Karnataka is thinking of setting off a hydro-electric project in Sakaleshpur a valley in western ghats. This would involve destruction of around 500 Hectares of forest area and displacement of thousands of farmers, in phase 1 of the project. Western ghats being the treasure of South india, brings lot of rain into Deccan Plateau and being the source of many flora and fauna. Kindly protest against this disaster of mass destruction of precious trees/lives of animals. Destructing the nature is a global epidemic now. As told by Scientist Sir David King \"Climate change is the most severe problem we are facing today more serious even than the threat of terrorism.\" \"If you want one year of prosperity, plant corn. If you want ten years of prosperity, plant trees. If you want one hundred years of prosperity, educate people.\"

The government of Karnataka acts like these forests belong to no one, but they are dead wrong. I have been spending every minute pressuring officials to stop this senseless destruction of the Western Ghats before it is too late.

The momentum behind this fight is becoming impossible for the government of Karnataka to ignore. They think they can erase our forests and displace our farmers without a word of protest but they are dead wrong.

500 hectares is insane. we are already losing so much green cover and they want to chop down more for a project that will just dry up the area anyway.

THIS IS PURE GREED. WE NEED THE RAIN MORE THAN WE NEED ANOTHER DAM PROJECT THAT WILL DESTROY THE LOCAL ECOSYSTEM!!!!
