The All Star Factory is officially reopening its doors to our community. This victory belongs to every person who refused to accept that Caithness should remain without a cinema. Keep an eye on local announcements for the upcoming grand opening.

Cinema For Thurso Group have worked since 1984 to bring cinema back to Caithness permanently, knowing that it is a viable business with a catchment popualtion of 45,000. The All Star Factory was a result of our approach to Thor Leisure in 1992 before they began trading. The 2 screen cinema is a confirmed viable cinema but was run out of business. As a result Thurso and the north Highland Region are 110 miles from the nearest cinema with the only mobile cinema thusfar refusing to come to the area. The people of Caithness want a cinema in this location where there is very little in entertainment for families, younger people and visitors to the county and are keen to have their voice heard. Cinema provides an important social function beyond simply being entertainment. It provides a focal point for the community and can attract people into the area which can provide a much needed boost to the economic growth of Caithness. The undersigned would like the recipients of the petition to understand that there is a strong demand for cinema in Caithness and the north to such extent as to make it a viable business which is important to the whole community for the socio-economic benifits it can provide. Save the All Star Factory- SAVE OUR CINEMA!

Updates

The silence from the owners is telling but we are currently preparing a formal letter to demand a meeting about the future of the building. Send a message to your local council representative today to let them know that the community expects a cinema in our town. Tell three friends to sign this petition so we can demonstrate our collective resolve.

The momentum behind this campaign proves that our community is tired of being ignored. Post this link on Facebook and email your local representative to demand they address this lack of local cinema access.

The north of Scotland always gets left behind. Tired of having to drive forever just to catch a movie. Keep it open.

Honestly there is nothing for the kids to do in this town. It would be great to actually have a place to go on a saturday night.

Thurso needs this for the visitors too. How are we supposed to encourage tourism when there's literally no entertainment here???

Living 110 miles away from the nearest screen is a joke. We live in the 21st century not the middle ages. Give us our cinema back.

Totally agree. It was a massive mistake closing it down in the first place.
